2 drown, 30 go missing as boat capsizes in Jamuna River

Two people drowned and 30 others went missing as a boat capsized in the Jamuna River in Chauhali upazila of Sirajganj on Tuesday.
Rashedul Islam Biswas, officer-in-charge of Chauhali Police Station, said the engine-run-boat with over 50 passengers on board was heading towards Chauhali from Enayetpur, reports United News of Bangladesh.
It sank around 1:30 pm near Sathalchar village of the upazila, he said adding that a number of passengers managed to swim ashore immediately.
On information, members of Police and Fire Service went to the spot and started rescue operation. The bodies of a child and an elderly man have so far been retrieved, he added.
