Turkish Red Crescent distributes foods for Bangladeshi poor
1,000 worst-hit destitute families being served food packages, says official- Nayadiganta English Desk

Turkish Red Crescent with support of the country’s leading defense company Roketsan has distributed food packages for 1,000 destitute families in Bangladesh’s central district of Narayanganj, one of the ountry’s worst-hit regions with novel coronavirus, according to officials.
Each food package for every family contains rice, red lintel, cooking oil, salt, sugar and semolina.
Seven hundred fifty hundred families in three different regions of the district have already been served the parcels until Tuesday in four phases while the rest 250 needy families in district’ central area will be distributed on Wednesday, according to the regional head of the aid agency.
“We are standing by our Bangladeshi brothers who are currently struggling with monsoon season along with cyclone and COVID- 19 at the same time,” Bora Tumer, Turkish Red Crescent Head of Bangladesh Delegation, told Anadolu Agency.
Pointing to the brotherly relationship between Turkey and Bangladesh Tumer added: “With the support of Roketsan, this time we have distributed the food parcels in cooperation with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, which will fulfill the basic need of foods for two weeks of the needy 1,000 families who are suffering from the COVID-19 in capital Dhaka’s closest district”.
Referring to the massive sufferings worldwide due to the virus pandemic, Tumer said Turkish Red Crescent is continuing its operations amid COVID-19 “with increasing its efforts to support vulnerable communities in 15 countries apart from Turkey, in which we have permanent delegations.”
Meanwhile, in a separate statement Roketsan stated that, the company always support to the people of Bangladesh by assisting them with relief.
“At this difficult time, Roketsan supported with food packages among 1,000 families in Bangladesh to mitigate the effect of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.”
In early June Turkish state-run aid agency TIKA [Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency] provided one thousand N95 masks, one thousand PPE suits, two ventilators and five thousand medical masks to support Bangladesh in fighting the lethal virus. [Source: Anadolu Agency]
