Water vessels will resume operation on domestic routes after maintaining health guidelines from May 31 on a limited scale.

A meeting to take necessary measures over the matter will be held at BIWTA Bhaban on Friday afternoon, United News of Bangladesh reported on Thursday citing a press release of Shipping Ministry.

Earlier, the government approved limited operation of public transport and offices from May 31 to June 15 amid the coronavirus outbreak.

It also permitted markets and shops to remain open from 10am to 4pm on condition that they follow health rules.

But educational institutions will remain closed during this period.

Public transports and water vassals were shut after the government announced general holidays from March 26 to contain the transmission of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, health authorities confirmed the detection of record 2,029 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 40,321. Fifteen more people died from coronavirus, taking the death tally to 559.
