Nahian, Lekhak from acting to new president, gen secy of BCL

Al Nahian Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharjee have been made president and general secretary of ruling Awami League party's student front, Bangladesh Chhatra League, respectively.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday gave the full responsibility of BCL to Nahian and Lekhak, who were acting president and general secretary the student body.

The premier made the announcement at the 72nd founding anniversary of BCL held at capital Dhaka's Suhrawardi Udyan on Saturday afternoon.

BCL former president and general secretary Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and Golam Rabbani were removed from the posts for their controversial activities on September 14 last year.

AL President Sheikh Hasina gave the decision on the two leaders of the pro-AL student body at a meeting of AL Central Working Committee, highest decision-making body of the ruling party on the day.

On the same day, BCL Senior Vice-President Al Nahian Khan Joy and Joint General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee were made acting president and general secretary.
